A steep climb from the Indian Ocean shore to an altitude of 400m with a distance of only 38kms brought us to Mkundi village, in Kwale County. It borders the Shimba Hills forest, with beautiful landscapes and cultural diversity. The people in the area largely belong to three communities, the Kamba, Duruma and Digo.

Bible Listening Group training had been done toward the end of 2023, and we were following up to see how the progress was, so far. Our hosts Rev. Wellington Kioko (Evangelical Lutheran Church) and Rev. Nicholas Kilonzo (Pentecostal Evangelistic Fellowship of Africa – P.E.F.A.) received us warmly at the PEFA Church. The Bible Listening Group leaders shared a lot about testimonies, transformations, and challenges they have encountered so far.

Selina Chambogo, a Duruma further took us to Minyalasoni, her home village, to see how the Audio Bible has changed the lives of her friends. A village that one can only access either by foot or motorbikes. They have embraced the Good News and made them better and more committed Christians. ‘Sasa namwamini huyu Yesu, ananizungumzia kwa lugha yangu vizuri sana” (I now believe on Jesus, He is speaking to me in my own language).

We continually give glory to God for the work He has entrusted us, fulfilling the great commission!
